We go to the occasional formal event which requires a bow tie, I was taught by my dad to tie a bowtie and so am in charge of tying it for my husband. I tied the bowtie in the picture directly following the instructions on the product page on Amazon. It ties nicely but I am not 100% satisfied with the quality of my bow, but that is down to me and not the bow tie. I intend to alter this, as I would like to be able to tie it 'off husband' so I will be taking to my sewing machine and putting a hook on one side and an attachment on the other so that we can have the best of both worlds with a bowtie that can be tied up front and then applied to the husband, but he will be able to untie the bow at the end of the evening :-)

I've had the "cheat" versions of bow ties, a lot of them, I've never owned a "proper" one so I was interested to try one out. Size info, I'm a 43cm (17") collar so not small and I found the degree of adjustment just about coped with that, a tiny amount more was available. The material is the satiny silky black that you would expect but it's not one of those that snags on every bit of micro-roughness on your hands like many do given my engineering roughened hands so that was nice. So after watching several videos I managed to get it tied and for a first go I don't think it was bad. It will get better, I'm going to practice because I'll actually be needing this in a months time and learning the day you need it might not be the way to go. Pleased with it, I think the price is extremely fair.
